How do I program my keyless entry remote?

Each vehicle has a different procedure for how to program a new remote. The instructions included are simple to follow and can usually be performed in under a minute. You cannot program a remote yourself to work in some vehicles and must have a professional do it for you. Check the listing specific to your vehicle to find out which applies.

What can I do if I lost all of my car keys? Can Fob Keyless help?

If you have lost all of your keys, you will need to contact a local dealership or automotive locksmith to have a new key cut and programmed to your vehicle.

How do I check to see if my battery is dead?

Every remote has a back cover that can be removed. Most have a small notch or space along the seam where the remote can be carefully pried open using a small flat head screw driver. Once the cover is removed, the battery will be inside and can be easily replaced

Where do I need to go to have my key or remote cut and/or programmed?

A local automotive locksmith or dealership can program these keys or remotes for you.

Does my car have a key with a chip inside?

If your key is listed on our website then it does have a transponder chip inside. If the key for your vehicle is not listed, it most likely does not have a chip. You can contact your local dealership to verify.

My key doesn’t work after I cut it. What do I need to do?

Transponder chip keys must be programmed before you can use it to start the vehicle. Once the key is cut, an automotive locksmith or the dealership can program it for you. Some keys you can program yourself with your existing key(s). Check the listing for your specific vehicle to find out if this applies to you.

How can I find an automotive locksmith in my area?

You can find an automotive locksmith either in your local yellow pages or with online listings.

What is the general price range for cutting and/or programming of these remotes and keys?

The price varies locally. Please contact your local automotive locksmith or dealership for their specific prices.

Why can’t I program the new key myself if I only have one working key currently?

If your programming instructions state that you must have two working keys to program new ones, it is because the vehicle’s programming mode can only be opened with two separate keys. You cannot use one programmed key twice. If you only have one working key, any new ones will need to be programmed by an automotive locksmith or dealership.

Does this key come ready to use out of the package?

No, these keys must be cut and programmed to your specific vehicle before it will work for you.

When will you ship my order?

We ship your order from our office within 24 business hours of being placed. The delivery time varies depending on the option you select. USPS First class is 3-5 business days, USPS Priority is 2-3 business days, and FedEX overnight is next day delivery. If you select overnight before 5:00 PM EST., you will receive the shipment the next day after 10:00 AM. Overnight orders received after 5:00 PM EST will be shipped from our office the next business day.

Why do you need my license and registration for the key cutting service?

Your license and registration is used to verify that you are the owner of the vehicle. Names and addresses on all documents provided must match the shipping address on your invoice before we will ship a cut key.

How do I know if my vehicle has a keyless entry system?

If you have had or currently have a remote for your vehicle, it does have a keyless entry system. If you purchased the vehicle without a remote, any dealership can verify if it has a keyless entry system based on your VIN.

How can I be sure this is the correct remote for my vehicle?

If you have an existing remote available, you can match the part number on the back and the functions on the front to verify it is the correct remote. If you have lost your remote or your vehicle did not come with a remote, the dealership can provide a part number based on your VIN. You can use this part number to verify the remote listed is the correct one for your vehicle.

Are these remotes and keys original or aftermarket products?

Most of our transponder chip keys are aftermarket unless stated otherwise. Most remote head keys, fobik keys and keyless entry remotes are factory original. All of the remotes we carry are for OEM systems; we do not carry remotes for aftermarket keyless entry systems.

Can I remove the blade from your key shell and place mine into it?

No, key blades are molded into the plastic portion of the shell and cannot be removed and used in a new shell case. If yours is separate it is only because the shell is broken.

Why are your prices so much lower than the dealership?

We purchase our remotes and keys in large quantities and do not mark our prices up as much as dealerships do. We also offer aftermarket keys, which are much cheaper simply because they don’t have the factory logo on them.

I replaced the battery in my remote and it still will not work. Do I need to replace my remote?

If the battery is not the issue, it is most likely that the remote portion inside has gone bad or was damaged in some way. In this case you will usually need to replace the entire remote.

Do you offer a warranty on your products?

We offer a 90 day warranty on all our products; both new and used. Products cannot be returned, refunded, exchanged or replaced after 90 days from purchase date.
